Late Autumn / Upper Austria

In late autumn, we travelled to the area of the Nationalpark Kalkalpen for a weekend. This is one of the less touristy places in the Austrian Alps, meaning it is less crowded, cheaper and just as beautiful. Plus it’s only a 2.5h drive from Vienna.

Apart from maybe being a week or two late for proper Indian Summer, we had spectacular weather and used that to take pictures with a Nikon Z6II and Z24-120mm/f4. From Friday evening onwards, there was a thick layer of fog, so we used Saturday to do a little hiking and (ice) bathing in one of the mountain stream. It was fascinating to see all of the fog disappear within 30 minutes on Sunday morning, which I tried to capture in some of the shots. At some point, I pulled over on the side of the road in a field to take pictures, which got me some suspicious looks from the locals, but it was worth it in my opinion.
