In early May, I spent 1.5 days in Heidelberg to give a talk at the Heidelberg University School of Medicine (thanks Lukas for the invitation!). I brought my recently acquired Minolta XG-1 (1977) and a 45mm f/2. In a recent post, I tested this camera for the first time. For this test, I kept the camera the same, but used my go-to film, Kodak Gold 200, and a different lens I had also tested previously. Seems like the camera has some light leaking issues! While this does create artsy pictures, I think I will try to fix the camera. Other than the light leaking issues, I need to say I am proud that nearly every picture I took was good both in terms of composition and not taking more than 1-2 pictures per scene/subject.
Heidelberg was beautiful, definitely the prettiest German city I have seen so far. You can clearly see the stunning Church of the Holy Spirit, the old town main street, which is a 1.8km pedestrian zone, the old bridge as well as the beginning of the Odenwald. Add good company and proper Southern German food and you have a perfect weekend trip.
